selfs
projections
The images in this series depict projections of myself set against a white studio backdrop, accompanied by a cable release. The cable release aligns the image with self-portraiture, however the absence of a physical subject in the photographs may cause the viewer to question the efficacy of that label. The series aims to question the nature of self-portraiture as a genre of photography.

Is a photo a self-portrait if the subject is another self-portrait?
Must a self-portrait be a depiction of the subject in the exact moment that the photo was taken?
Can a picture of a picture even be considered a portrait, let alone a self-portrait? Is it not a still life?
Is a picture of you really you or is it just a picture of you?
That’s not me, that’s a picture of a picture of a picture of me.
Why does any of this matter?
Where am I?
Who am I?
How did I get here?
